The Doctor’s Chamber took participation in the 31st ZEVA Symposium
The President of the Doctor’s Chamber Prof. Dr. Kalina Grivcheva Stardelova, the Vice -President for secondary health protection, Dr. Maja Manoleva and the Vice-President for tertiary health protection, Dr. Albert Leshi participated in the 31st Symposium of doctor’s chambers of the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe (ZEVA) that took place in Prishtina, Kosovo, from the 5th to the 7th of September.
The participants of the Symposium presented their national reports on various topics among which the role of the doctor’s chambers in the training of the resident doctors and subspecialist doctors, the conditions for renewal of working licences and the working conditions for doctors after they retire, the migration of the doctors and the burnout syndrome with the healthcare workers. Further, specific challenges which face the doctor’s chambers of Albania and Hungary were discussed.
The discussion confirmed the necessity of strengthening of the role of the chambers regarding their involvement in the process of selection and organization of the specialist and subspecialist studies.
“The practice has shown that countries where the doctor’s chambers have a greater role in this process, have shown both formally and substantially superior management of the needs of the healthcare system in regard to the specialist and subspecialist staff”, stated Prof. dr. Grivcheva Stardelova.
Concerning the renewal of the working licences and the working conditions for doctors that have fulfilled retirement conditions, it was pointed out that additional conditions should be introduced in order to provide assurance of the quality of the healthcare service.
The President of the Chamber, Prof. Dr. Grivcheva Stardelova stated the necessity to establish a mutual standpoint and to arrange the methods for application of the artificial intelligence in medicine given that the EU countries, USA and Great Britain already prepare legal framework for regulation of this area. She stated that the regulation=of the rules for using the artificial intelligence, as well as protecting thee doctors from potential mistakes is of upmost importance.
The ZEVA Symposium is an annual event in which representatives of the chambers and the doctor’s associations from more that 25 countries of Central and Eastern Europe take part in order to support, promote and expand the work of the professional chamber associations, to exchange experiences and opinions, to take stands and give suggestions aiming to improve the healthcare system and provide quality and accessible health protection to the population. The following ZEVA Symposium shall take place in Skopje and shall be organized by the Doctor’s Chamber of Macedonia.
