Continuous medical education (CME)
The continuous medical education of the doctors is a procedure that begins with the acquiring of the working licence in order to promote the knowledge and the skills of the doctors that include diagnostics and treatment.
The forms of continuous medical education are the following: participation in congresses/conferences, symposiums or other forms of professional meetings, courses/workshops for continuous education study stays, publications in professional and scientific magazines, acquiring of professional and scientific titles, registrations of side –effects to medications as well as activities as mentors or educators or following the contents for continuous medical education on the web-site.
The continuous medical education is organized and carried out in accordance with the Manual on the forms of continuous medical education, the criteria for determination of the forms of CME, the criteria for selection of the implementers of the forms of CME and the points necessary to renew the licence for the healthcare workers with a faculty degree in medicine.
Evidencing the CME points
A doctor needs to attain 140 CME points within the validity period of the licence (seven years) through various forms of professional education. More precisely, the doctor needs to obtain at least 20 CME points annually.
Needed documentation for evidencing the acquired CME points:
- Documents for the professional education - photocopies of the certificates for attendance to accredited professional activities, confirmations or photocopies of published articles etc.
- Request for approval and categorization of the forms of continuous medical education for the doctors
Control of the evidenced CME points through the doctor’s portal
Every doctor can log into the doctor’s portal and have an insight in his/her data, among which are the evidenced CME points. The procedure is the following:
- Click portal.lkm.org.mk
- You sign in with your “username” and “password”. Your username is the e-mail address stated in the application form for registering into the registry of Doctors, and your password are the final six numbers of your personal identification number. In case you cannot remember the address you have filled in the registration form, or that address is no longer valid, please contact the services on the following telephone number 02/3239060, line 111, in order to make the necessary correction.
- With choosing the “log in” button, you enter your personal file.
- Enter the “personal information” field, “my data” afterwards, and finally in “continuous education” where you can have an insight into the registered CME for each year separately.
