Trainee internship
A doctor of medicine who has completed the six-years or five-years educational program of Medical faculty in our country or abroad, has to perform the trainee internship as a condition to take the licensing exam.
The trainee internship is being carried out in the facilities proposed in the Manual on the plan and the program for trainee internship for healthcare workers with faculty degree.
The necessary documentation for application for trainee internship is:
- Certificate for completed medical faculty (photocopy)
Plan and program for the trainee internship
The trainee internship for the healthcare workers with faculty degree in medicine, whose medical studies were in duration of five years need to perform one year of trainee internship, while for those whose medical studies were in duration of six years, the trainee internship is six months.
Plan and Program for the trainee internship of 6-month duration:
- Primary Health Care – 30 days
- Internal Medicine – 45 days
- Surgery – 30 days
- Paediatrics – 45 days
- Gynaecology and Obstetrics – 30 days
Plan and Program for the trainee internship in one-year duration:
1. Primary Health Care - 60 days
2. Internal Medicine:
- Internal Medicine - 30 days
- Infectious Diseases - 20 days
- Pulmonary Physiology - 15 days
- Dermatology and Venereology - 10 days
- Neuropsychiatry - 10 days
- Transfusion Medicine - 10 days
3. Surgery:
- General Surgery and Traumatology - 30 days
- Otorhinolaryngology - 10 days
- Ophthalmology - 10 days
4. Protection of women, children and youth:
а) Obstetrics:
- clinic - 15 days
- maternity hospital - 30 days
б) Protection of children and youth:
- clinic for children and youth - 30 days
- hospital treatment - 15 days
5. Preventive Care:
- Hygiene - 15 days
- Epidemiology - 15 days
- Occupational Medicine - 15 days
- Social and Community Medicine - 15 days
6. Forensic Medicine - 10 days
Trainee internship abroad
In case the doctor completed the trainee internship abroad, it can be partially or completely accepted by the Doctor’s Chamber in case the program for the completed internship corresponds with the one proposed in our Manual for trainee internship.
The required documentation for accepting the trainee internship is the following:
- Personal internship card – notarized photocopy;
- Plan and program on the trainee internship issued by the faculty – translation in Macedonian language – notarized photocopy
A doctor who has completed the medical studies abroad is also required to submit:
- Validation of the medical degree issued by the Ministry of Education and Science – notarized photocopy;
- Faculty degree in medicine – notarized photocopy
- Translation of the faculty degree in medicine in Macedonian language – notarized photocopy.
