The Doctor’s Chamber at the General Assembly of the World Medical Association
The President of the Doctor’s Chamber of RNM, Prof. Dr. Kalina Grivcheva – Stardelova and a member of the Executive Board of the Chamber, Dr. Ilber Besimi, attended the General Assembly of the World Medical Organization where also a formal commemoration was held to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the German Medical Association. The representatives of the Doctor’s Chamber attended this event upon a previous invitation by the President of the German Medical Association.
“Everyone who has ideas, shall be heard. In the past 75 years, the German Medical Association continuously demonstrated constructive suggestions for providing and further development of a high-quality, patients-oriented health care. Through opening of debates for constructing the legislative, the doctors create an additional ethical, economic and cultural value to the society which surpasses our primary professional work”, was pointed out by Klaus Reinhardt, the President of the German Medical Association.
The present were also addressed by Prof. Dr. Alena Buyx, President of the German Ethics Council and by Heidi Stensmyren, President of the World Medical Association.
Aside the formal assembly of the World Medical Association, a science session was also held regarding thee “Medical Ethics in the Globalized World”. Chief spokesmen of this session were Prof. Tom L. Beauchamp, Professor of Philosophy of the Georgetown University, USA, and Prof. James F. Childress, Honorary professor in Ethics and Religious Studies at the University of Virginia, USA.
Dr. Osahon Enabulele, former President of the Nigerian Medical Association was elected President of the Wold Medical Association for the year 2022-23.
Chief Spokesman of the General Assembly that will take place at 08.10.2022 shall be Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, from the Centre for Pandemic and Epidemic Research of the World Health Organization. The assembly shall include discussions on the proposed modifications of the International Code for Medical Ethics as well as other topics that refer to healthcare discrimination of the elderly persons, racism in the field of medicine and increase in the activities regarding telehealth and digital health care.
